Speedo
At first glance, you will see the difference between the Speedo Fastskin Kickboard and other kickboards. Yes, it's the shape. Interestingly, Speedo was inspired by the shape of the V-shape hull when they developed the kickboard. The kickboard was designed for more experienced swimmers, in collaboration with the best swimmers, their coaches and hydrodynamics experts.
As any other swimmer, I have experience with boards of all kinds that occur in swimming pools.
Speedo used EVA material, the same material they use for their other kickboards. The EVA material is strong but flexible, lightweight and very pleasant to touch.
A big plus of this kickboard is durability. You probably know the classic colourful kickboards from the Matuška Dena brand, which occur most often in swimming pools, but the Speedo Fastskin Kickboard lasts much longer, due to the high-quality material. Matuška Dena kickboards, on the other hand, boast a very low price. I like the shape of the board and the refined material on the edges for a better and more pleasant grip. Classic kickboards are just flat, some of them have holes in the middle for nicer grip but this suited me the best. The kickboard is relatively heavy, but that is the advantage. I can lean on this board without worries that it will bend, (that happens with classic sponge kickboards). I also fell in love with the fact that the kickboard can be gripped in several ways.
The name Fastskin corresponds with the feeling I had. I was swimming faster with this board and I enjoyed that. :)
If you want a simple comparison between classic boards and this rocket, it's almost the same as if you compare the cheapest training swimming goggles with the most expensive racing ones. It's a big difference, isn't it?
If you don’t have a pullboy and want to include swimming with your arms only, you can use this kickboard as a pull buoy as well.
I wouldn't change anything on this kickboard and I was completely satisfied with it. I would recommend the board to all swimmers who are racing, but also for the swimmers who want the best that world brands can offer them.
